we are extreamly proud of our participation in LEED projects

Sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. These are some of the qualities you can expect from a LEED certified project LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building, home or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health.

There is four possible levels of certification

we are extreamly proud of our participation in LEED projects

There are a number of LEED® rating systems available to meet the needs of different building and project types. Each LEED rating system consists of prerequisites and credits. Prerequisites are required elements, or green building strategies that must be included in any LEED certified project. Credits are optional elements, or strategies that projects can elect to pursue to gain points toward LEED certification.

we are extreamly proud of our participation in Passive House System projects

Passive House is the world's leading standard in energy efficient construction.

  • Up to 85% energy saved in heating over conventional building standards.
  • Quality of indoor space is improved with careful ventilation and day-lighting.
  • Passive House is economically viable because they adapt conventional construction materials and techniques to reduce energy needs.

The primary objective is to minimize heat loss by optimizing the thermal performance of the building envelope.

This is accomplished with:

  • Super-insulation
  • Airtightness
  • High performance windows
  • Minimizing thermal bridges
  • Incorporating very high efficiency heat recovery ventilation

Passive House is Cost Effective A conventional heating system is not needed in a Passive House. This decreases energy bills, saves space and reduces construction costs. By adapting conventional construction materials and techniques, we find that the cost of building a Passive House adds only 5-10% to the total construction cost.

The Key Benefits of the Passive House in Canada:

  • Cut energy costs by 85% and reduce CO2 emissions by 65%
  • Affordable to construct and maintain
  • There are no limits for the design and architecture
  • Less mechanical systems are simpler for the homeowner to operate and maintain
  • Well-insulated building provides effective sound insulation and protection from outside noise
  • With no drafts the house provides superior indoor climate comfort
  • High quality ventilation equipment provides constant fresh air in your home
  • Independent third party certification insures quality of the construction and future value of your building

Spray Foam

Spray Foam is a chemical product of two materials, isocyanate and polyol resin, which react when mixed with each other and expand up to 30-60 times its liquid form. This expansion produces a high thermal insulating value with virtually no air infiltration.

Firestop

Firestop is a fire protection system made up of various components used to seal openings and joints in fire-resistance rated wall or floor assemblies. Firestops are designed to restore the fire-resistance of wall or floor assemblies, impeding the spread of fire by filling the openings with fire resistant material.

Insulation

Insulation refers broadly to a wide variety of material used in a building as insulation. While the majority of insulation in buildings is for thermal purposes, RLI also offers acoustic insulation and fire insulation.

Fire Proofing

Applying a certification listed fireproofing system to certain structures allows them to have a fire-resistance rating. Items classed as fireproof are resistant in specified circumstances, and may burn or be rendered inoperable by fire exceeding the intensity or duration that it is designed to withstand.

Sound Proofing

Soundproofing can suppress unwanted indirect sound waves such a reflections that cause echoes and resonances that cause reverberation. Soundproofing can reduce the transmission of unwanted direct sound waves.

Residential Rebates

Insulation Rebates

We offer several different products for home owners, such as the removal and the replacement of old and improper insulation within the flat attic spaces, cathedral ceiling, exterior wall cavities and sheathing, basement walls and crawl spaces. Our expert installers ensure that correct attic ventilation is occurring to avoid future excess moisture and future mold outbreaks within attic spaces.

The Government of Canada has renewed the popular ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes program. This initiative is helping Canadians renovate their home with new energy efficient products dedicated to improving the environment while saving energy costs.

To be eligible for a rebate the insulation must be installed in accordance with the BC Standards of Practice Guide For Air Sealing and Insulation Retrofits.

The amont availabe for each rebate is determine by three elements;

  • where the insulation is installed,
  • the total area, in square feet, of the new insulation added,
  • how well your insulation keeps in heat.

Typical insulation types are;

  • Rolls or batts,
  • blown-in,
  • loose fit,
  • rigid board,
  • spray foam insulation,
  • blown-in.

Eligibility can change at anytime, for more details restrictions and other information regarding rebates, including application forms and terms and conditions visit bchydro.com/municipaloffers or fortisbc.com/homerebates
